Frontline data handling or platform and portfolio governance?
Frontline staff need to know what data they may enter and how to review outputs. Leaders and administrators may need to govern vendors, platforms, and an organization-wide portfolio of AI uses. A privacy habit cannot replace vendor oversight, and a governance committee cannot make every prompt safe. Choose the level where the learner has responsibility.

Editorial decision aid: the steps describe choosing training, not a promised course exercise.
How to choose
For staff, reduce exposure at the prompt
Data-handling instruction can cover classification, minimization, redaction, privacy settings, and verification. Compare tool and data categories using the organization’s policy. Confirm what the course says about personal data and processing, and do not infer that redaction alone makes a case authorized or anonymous.
For a platform, review dependencies and terms
Platform and vendor courses can compare proprietary, open, or hybrid systems, contracts, security, updates, ownership, and dependencies. Identify who manages registration, procurement oversight, and renewal checkpoints. Ask whether the course’s examples fit your technology and procurement role.
For a portfolio, assign governance roles
Organization-wide governance adds forums, risk tiers, policies, exceptions, escalation, and acceptance. Check whether learners produce a registry or other evidence and can connect it to legal, security, and business risk owners. A course framework does not certify that controls are operating.
Fictional nonprofit example
Fictional scenario: a family-services nonprofit trains caseworkers to minimize prompt data while leadership reviews a proposed AI platform. Staff test a redacted fictional case. Administrators document vendor ownership, renewal checkpoints, risk escalation, and who may approve new use cases.
Before you enroll
Is the learner a frontline user, platform administrator, procurement lead, or governance owner?
What data classes and tools are included in the staff training?
Which vendor, contract, security, or lifecycle risks does the governance course cover?
What register, decision rights, or escalation path will be produced?
Choose staff training for daily data habits and governance training for vendors and portfolios. Assign each control to a person with authority to maintain it.
